Our client is a high growth, profitable defence technology business building agentic AI that gives operators and analysts genuine decision advantage across the Indo Pacific and beyond. Founded in 2019, the company has grown to around 180 people, has been profitable since 2021, and is backed by tier one investors. Its flagship platform is deployed across more than 125 live government and national security missions.
We are looking for an Engineering Manager to lead a group of five engineers, growing to around seven, building the agent powered mission console used on the front lines. This is a rare chance to shape how AI agents are deployed for national security at one of the fastest growing companies in the sector.
What you will be doing
- Leading the Agents team, splitting roughly 60 to 70 per cent management and 30 to 40 per cent hands on technical work including code review, architecture and unblocking the team
- Designing, shipping and scaling the agent powered mission console
- Scaling the flagship product and expanding its use cases to support international allied partners and new customer segments
- Partnering closely with product managers, designers and mission specialists to drive outcomes aligned to real operator workflows
- Guiding the implementation of robust agentic workflows using modern agent frameworks, with a pragmatic, high impact delivery bias
- Hiring and mentoring senior individual contributors, building a culture of ownership, velocity and mission impact
What we are looking for
Essential
- 8+ years in full stack software engineering, with 3+ years leading engineering teams of five to ten people
- Proven track record building and scaling customer facing AI agents or LLM powered products in production
- Full stack proficiency across Python, TypeScript and React
- Familiarity with agentic frameworks such as LangGraph, Pydantic AI, Agno or similar
- Strong product instincts, with experience shipping user facing software iteratively alongside product managers and designers
- Genuine appetite for leading and mentoring engineers, alongside retained hands on technical depth
- BS in Computer Science or equivalent technical background
- US citizenship or permanent residency. Willingness to travel to offsites and customer sites

- Background in high growth, product led SaaS or AI first environments

- Pure people managers without recent hands on technical depth
- Candidates requiring heavy process before shipping
- Candidates without interest in the defence and national security mission
