The business
Staffworx is running a hiring programme for a venture backed US developer infrastructure business. They own and operate their own global fleet of bare metal machines, orchestrate microVMs at very high volume, and run a self managed petabyte scale storage cluster. Compute capacity is being tripled in the immediate term.
Nine engineers today, twenty plus by year end. This role reports directly to the technical co-founders.
What you would own
- Architecture for bare metal fleet management, microVM orchestration and distributed storage
- Kernel and filesystem level work, including eBPF, cgroups, namespaces and low level I/O tuning
- Production reliability and performance through a tripling of capacity
- The technical roadmap, alongside the founders
What they are looking for
- Go, Rust or C at depth
- Firecracker, KVM or QEMU
- Ceph or an equivalent distributed storage system
- Genuine fluency with AI coding agents, which matters to them more than the language you write in
This is not a DevOps role. They are hiring people who have built these systems, not operated someone else’s.
Package and location
- $280,000 to $380,000 base, plus significant equity
- On-site in New York, relocation supported
- Visa transfers considered. No new sponsorships
