About our client
Our client is a well-funded, Series A wealth management technology company building an AI-native platform for financial advisers. Most people get financial advice that is reactive: an annual check-in, a plan that is a document rather than a living thing. Our client is rebuilding wealth management from the inside out, giving advisers a platform that takes on the low-leverage work so they can focus on empathy, context and judgement.
The platform keeps a living understanding of each client and adjusts before clients think to ask. The company started by acquiring established advisory firms, giving the team real advisers, real clients and real financial outcomes to build against from day one. The founding engineering team has been drawn from a number of well-known, high-growth technology companies.
The role
As a Member of Technical Staff focused on Applied AI, you will own the AI stack end to end. Agents are treated as the primary users of the company’s system of record, so the data models, APIs and UI all need to work for a non-human user operating at scale, across every client, all the time.
What you’ll build and own
- A general agent capable of complex, multi-step tasks: planning, sandboxed code execution, web search and retrieval
- Ambient agents that triage email, process meetings, draft communications and surface what needs attention
- The agent harness orchestrating LLMs, context, tools, retrieval and business logic
- Generative UI and human-in-the-loop interfaces for genuine human and agent collaboration
- Evaluation infrastructure covering both high-correctness data and subjective, judgement-heavy tasks
What we’re looking for
Essential
- Production experience building AI agents with LLM orchestration, tool use and retrieval
- Background at a high-growth startup
- Strong software engineering fundamentals: APIs, data modelling, system design
- 4 to 10 years’ experience in full-stack or backend engineering, building LLM-powered agent systems
Desirable
- Experience shipping evaluation infrastructure for non-deterministic AI systems
- Experience building generative UI or human-in-the-loop interfaces
Tech stack
Python, LLMs, RAG, agent frameworks, vector databases, TypeScript, React
Working pattern
Five days a week on site in New York City. This is a small, high-intensity team, and candidates should go in with realistic expectations of the pace.
