Leading cloud software company looking for new member to join the team, you’ll be working closely with cloud infrastructure developers and performance engineers. Focus will on deployment, reliability, performance and operational improvements of cloud-based software products
The role
- Maintain core cloud computing for API availability and low latency
- Lead and triage systems support for cloud
- Use tools and automation to operate test environments both locally and in the cloud (AWS mostly) using container orchestration tools, configuration management tools and infrastructure-as-code.
- Contribute directly to services codebase to support software products, based on Docker, CloudFormation, Terraform and Kubernetes.
- Comfortable scaling systems sustainably through mechanisms such as easy to use tooling and automation.
- Work in concert with service developers to evolve systems/products for better scalability, reliability and development velocity
Experience
- A computer science degree or equivalent education experience
- 3 years based in the software industry, ideally in java-based cloud environment
- 2 years specifically in a cloud-based operations or sys admin role
- operating production sites and dealing with customers
- troubleshooting severity 1 site-outages and complex bugs
Beneficial
- Stress and performance testing web sites
- Expert Linux skills
- Java experience (you know a thread dump from a heap dump)
- Databases; MySQL, Oracle and web application containers (Tomcat)
- scripting languages (Bash, Python, Ruby, Perl)
- monitoring tools (eg. Datadog, Cloudwatch)
- containers (Docker)
- AWS ideally, or Azure or GCP cloud experience
